Fire halls are known as bastions of tasty, large meals. This simple recipe of comfort food doesn't take long to make and will keep you warm during winter nights.

Tortellini with sausage, broccoli and cream sauce

Total Time: 30 minutes

Ingredients

  • One 18 ounce bag of tortellini
  • 1 package (6 to 8 sausages), cut into medium pieces
  • 1 large head of broccoli, cut into medium pieces and steamed
  • 1 carton (473 ml) of whipping cream for sauce
  • ½ cup of grated parmesan cheese for sauce, garnish and flavour
  • Chopped parsley, optional

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, brown the sausages over medium-high heat until cooked through. Cut into medium pieces once cool.
  2. Prepare tortellini according to package directions.
  3. Steam broccoli until tender but crisp.
  4. Drain pasta and add it to the steamed broccoli and cut sausage.
  5. In a 2 quart sauce pan, heat whipping cream. Add parmesan cheese until desired thickness is achieved. Stir constantly.
  6. Lightly toss sauce with pasta dish and garnish with Parmesan cheese and parsley if desired.
