From perfume and mascara... sunscreen and shampoo; this year more than 40 products make the cut across a number of categories, including nails, fragrance, makeup, hair, body and face, and as always, the Readers’ Choice Beauty Awards rewards products in a range of price categories, allowing you to find favourite new products regardless of budget.

The Products

Brow Products:  Favourite Brow Filler is a new category added this year. Everyone wants a solid “brow game” now that bold brows have swung back into style in a big way. Women can achieve the perfect Cara Delevingne inspired brow. The brow products that won: Benefit’s “Gimme Brow” and Maybelline New York “Define-A-Brow” Eyebrow Pencil.

Face Masks:  "Masking" has become a verb/favourite skincare pastime. People are way more into masks these days and we continue to see that trend going into 2015. The masks that won: Bioré Self Heating One Minute Mask and Clinique's Acne Solutions Oil Control.

Self-Tanner: People still want to achieve a healthy glow during the winter. Canadians voted Jergens Natural Glow and Daily Moisturizer as their must-have, sans-sun self-tanner. They’ve won every year since it launched.

Sunscreen: Throughout the winter, people often neglect to protect their skin from the sun. Ombrelle won for favourite sunscreen over $17. Neutrogena's sunscreen won in the under $17 category.

Dry Shampoo: In this category’s second year, we have new first-time winners. This year, TRESseme Fresh Start Volumizing Dry Shampoo won for Dry Shampoo under $10, beating out last year’s winner Batiste. In the over $10 category, Redken's Pillow Proof Blow Dry Express got top marks.

Hair Tool: Conair’s Curl Secret won this year, and we’ve noticed that more people have been inspired by celebrities with a full head of curls, like Lorde and Solange Knowles. In our November 2014 issue, we spoke about how perms are making a comeback, and we still see that hold true heading into this year.

Nail Art: Nail art is still popular, and this year, Sally Hansen’s: “I Nail Art Pen” won.
