So what do Janet Jackson, Michael Jordan, Bill Clinton and I have in common? We all like to vacation in Anguilla.

Janet Jackson, as the story goes, went on her first trip to Anguilla with 17 bodyguards in tow. On the next visit, four, and on their third visit, she was wandering around the supermarket alone. Anguilla is not only a haven for celebrities looking for some true peace and quiet, but it knows how to cater to the world’s richest and most famous travellers.

OK, so maybe I didn’t need a bodyguard and I am sure our vacations may have been on different price points. However, that is the beauty of this island; it can also cater to those of us looking to simply taste the good life.

I did get a brief glimpse into what a celebrity might experience when we popped by the Ani Villas. I think the private chef and hot tub overlooking the private bay may have been my favourite parts. But it’s actually hard to remember, as my jaw was on the floor the whole time.

The modern and comfortable décor, the abundance of natural light, the outdoor pool area and the “wired” services throughout the villa were all incredible. If you have a group of people who want to have a memorable experience, I would highly recommend you check it out.

Now if people can’t make it to Anguilla, where else can they go to spot celebrities?

Film festivals, like TIFF, are a great way to include star gazing into your vacation. Celebrities are there working, not vacationing, so you actually have a much better time of meeting them. They are there to promote and mingle. Unlike, when they are actually on vacation and intruding into their personal space and time may not be welcomed.

For those who want to spend the money to holiday like a high-roller, a great website to check out is MillionairesConcierge.com. It can help you plan a whole range of high-end vacations, from renting out private islands to hiring personal jets to buying tickets to high profile events, like the Oscars and the Emmys.

A final tip for you to get a glimpse into the life of the rich and famous - look at checking in to a celebrity-owned hotel. Bono and The Edge’s The Clarence in Dublin, Ireland; Abba’s Benny Andersson’s Hotel Rivalin inStockholm, Sweden; Elizabeth Hurley’s No. 11 Cadogan Gardensin in London, England. Closer to home, have a look at Jason Priestley’s Terrace Beach Resort in Ucluelet, British Columbia.
