The Force is strong with 380 superfans, who hunkered down in a dark Toronto theatre to watch 17 hours of "Star Wars" films.
Fans flooded Scotiabank Theatre, located at the intersection of John and Richmond Streets, at 4:45 a.m. on Thursday to watch the first six films in the series.
"We're going to see our favourite heroes back on the big screen, and to do it in this huge marathon is just epic," superfan Matthew Crandall told CTV's Canada AM on Thursday.
"Anything is possible in the 'Star Wars' universe and we just have such gripping heroes, such evil villains, and it's just really compelling and exciting and fun to watch."
Die-hard fans taking part in the marathon are given 10 minutes between each film to fill up on popcorn, take bathroom breaks, get fresh air or adjust their "Star Wars" costumes.
The event is leading up to the premiere of the seventh film, "Star Wars: The Force Awakens," which will be screened at 7 p.m., and finished by 9:35 p.m. The new film is expected to shatter box office records over the weekend.
"I'm so excited that I can't even think straight, because I've just been waiting for this day since they announced three years ago that they were going to make a sequel to 'Return of the Jedi,'" Crandall said.
