How to make your own nut milk. Meghan Telpner, Nutritionist and author of the 'UnDiet,' shows us how to make milk from nuts and seeds.
- 1 cup / 250 mL nuts and/or seeds of choice
- 4 cups / 1L water
- 1 tsp / 5 mL vanilla extract
- 1 tbsp prepared Irish moss (optional, to thicken)
- Raw honey, coconut nectar or maple syrup
Directions:
- Soak nuts and seeds in cold water for 2-6 hours, or overnight, then drain and rinse
- Place nuts and seeds in blender with water mix until smooth
- Pour mixture through strainer or nut sack and allow milk to drain into bowl
- Rinse blender container and return milk to it. Add remaining ingredients, and blend until smooth
- Keep refrigerated for 3-4 days or until frozen in half-quart mason jars or ice cube trays for smoothies for 2-3 months
