Well it's official! Spring has arrived. We've all been waiting for its arrival with longing, or at least I have! Looking outside, seeing a clear blue sky, and hearing the promise of 8 degrees is all wonderful news to me.

The period after Christmas until the first signs of spring always seems like a long haul, but if you can’t have spring outside, then you can always bring it in!

I love bringing in bare branches and see them starting to sprout and bloom. You can have tall branches in a large vase for some nice drama or just a little twig in a budvase for your powder room or bedside table. It’s all lovely. There are many types of branches we can bring inside. Cherry blossom with their white delicate blooms, or apple branches with their nice pink buds. For Easter, the yellow forsythia or puzzy willow is nice to display and it adds great colour and texture to your side buffet or front hall table.

Another idea that is great and easy to do is to display a whole bunch of mix and match containers down a table or on your mantle. Pick one type of flower for a cohesive look and disburse them in the vases randomly. It will create movement and make for a stylish and easy arrangement, and it also won’t break the bank!

Let’s not forget potted bulbs like hydrangea, hyacinth, muscari, daffodils, etc. I absolutely love when they arrive, and I can put them all over the house. For years now, I always get 3 mini yellow daffodils and put them in vintage metal containers. It costs next to nothing, but it makes me smile. Hyacinth I have everywhere for the smell. Some find them overpowering, but to me it is a promise that spring is just around the corner.

Potted herbs are nice to have year round on your window sill or on your kitchen counter. They look amazing and let's not forget the benefit of adding flavour to your food. Displaying them in wooden crates or metal containers adds a bit of a rustic feel.

When the weather gets a bit warmer and there is no more threat of frost, doing an outdoor urn really makes your house inviting. The bulbs are hardy and can stand up to a bit of cold. It is a short season for spring planters but well worth it. They adds beautiful colour and excellent curb appeal. I love driving along and snooping at peoples front entrances. Add one of our mossed animals for a bit of a whimsy and an element of surprise.
Get a dog to stand guard by the door or have a rabbit looking out from under a bush. The possibilities are endless.

We have a variety of animals such as frogs, rabbits, pigs, and dogs of different breeds. You can be sure that people will stop and take a second look.

Hopefully you're feeling inspired to "spring up" your own house. It does not have to be complicated. Just let your imagination run wild and see what you can find around the house. Have Fun.
