Journalists for Human Rights is a unique Canadian charity that helps reporters in some of the world’s most challenging places to better report on local issues and improves people's lives.

From the Sierra Leone to South Sudan to Syrian refugee camps in Jordan, JHR-trained journalists are exposing human rights abuses, sharing people's stories – stories that would otherwise never be told. When media puts a spotlight on human rights, people start talking about the issues and demanding change.

A strong, independent media is a referee between governments and citizens. JHR works to promote good governance, transparency, and human rights protection, by building strong and independent media.

Since 2002, JHR has trained more than 12,500 journalists whose stories have reached more than 50 million people.
