After weeks of planning, renovation and installation, Canada AM's new kitchen is finally ready to show to the world. Home and decor expert Karl Lohnes took viewers on tour on Thursday of what will soon become one of Canada's most famous kitchens.
Cupboards: Martha Stewart for The Home Depot.
Dunmere Cabinet in Sharkey Grey paint colour was chosen for its transitional look of raised panels without being too traditional. The colour is reminiscent of a farmhouse paint colour; much softer on the eye than white.
Weston Cabinet in Musket finish. The clean, mid-century modern lines help give this kitchen a contemporary feel. The wood is not too dark and has a cooler than warmer tone to it.
Countertops: Natural Quartz Countertops, by Cambria.
The benefit of using quartz is that there are no surprise variations in the design, as you would get with granite or stone. Cambria counters are non-porous, scratch-resistant and stronger than real granite.
Back counters are a vibrant Bala Blue, which adds a zing of colour to our kitchen. Island is Bradford; looks like granite or stone.
Faucet: Simplice Pull Down Faucet K-596, from Kohler.
Chosen for its transitional style, this faucet has a spray head with spray, aerated flow and pause function.
Dishwasher: Stainless Star-Sapphire, by Thermador.
Chosen for having the largest capacity for wine glasses. This pick washes a full cycle in only 20 minutes and lights up with the sapphire LED glow when opened.
Fridge: 30-inch Built-in, Bottom Freezer, by Thermador.
Comes in 18- to 36 inch widths for customizing any kitchen. This pick has extra-bright LED lights, true flush doors and evaporation and compressors which are features of commercial kitchen fridges.
Oven: 30-inch professional series combo oven and convection microwave, by Thermador.
This oven has soft close doors, large oven capacity, large rotisserie.
Cooktop: Masterpiece Freedom Induction Cooktop, by Thermador.
The zone-less induction in this cooktop naturally recognizes the cookware size and shape. Induction is as responsive as gas and thesafer cooking surface stays cool once cookware is removed.
