This will take you to the training site, ExerSciz, that I use exclusively with clients.  Medically-based and proudly Canadian, it walks you through an assessment process and then based on your goals, your time and the equipment you have available, produces a truly customized program.  You will receive a comprehensive package with a detailed program and weekly progressions.  It is packed with instructional videos and tutorials on each step and all exercises in both English and French.  It's nothing short of amazing as it will optimize your time and your results!

We will be providing lots of information, tips and tricks on fitness, nutrition and motivation.   Much of this will depend on your input and feedback - so we encourage that every step of the way!

1. Find your WHY!

This is the more in-depth reason for wanting to make this change so look below the surface.  If you want to lose weight for a special event, ask why.  Does that mean you're not feeling good where you are now and if so, ask why and what and why you would like to change.

Write down your goals.  This could be on the ExerSciz site or on your own.  Be clear, be specific.  Include short term and long term goals so there are manageable steps along the way.

Make sure your WHY is measureable.  It may be a number on the scale or a measure on a tape, but this can also be something meaningful in your own life.  A pair of pants you want to fit into.

2. Be realistic and honest

This is essential with both your eating and activity as they truly have to work together for long term success.  Make sure you are realistic and honest with respect to:

  • your goals - make them realistic and manageable
  • with your efforts - how much energy and intensity you are putting in with your workouts and your eating
  • your expectations - quick weight loss is not lasting weight loss; remember that working off calories takes way longer than eating them!  


3. Set up your support system

Studies do show that our friends and family often sabotage our best efforts.  Do you think they mean to?  NO!  To help them be the supportive team you need, help them understand just how important this is and how they can help.  

  • ask for their support by NOT having food that's tempting in the house or at the office
  • ask for help in carving out time to fit activity into your day - someone to share chores, childcare or perhaps even join you!
  • find friends or family that can be an accountability partner in the process - this is someone close you can count on to encourage you on the days your dragging and to help you celebrate the moments of brilliance

I'm incredibly excited to start this journey and look forward to sharing success, insights, challenges and changes.  We are about to discover that we can absolutely amaze ourselves!
